Janice's Famous Vidalia Onion and Peppercorn Potato Salad

We had our annual summer picnic at the Market this past week and we thought it was time to post Janice's Potato Salad recipe. It is truly the best and very unique. All of us that work at the Market always fight over this potato salad. Its great for family get togethers and Janice will not be upset if you lie a little and say you came up with it on your own.

Here you go and we hope that you love it as much as we do!!!!

Step 1)
Boil about 10 medium to large potatoes (Janice always use red potatoes) with the skins on until tender. Do not over cook. Let cool. Peel and slice when completely cooled.

Step 2)

The Dressing:
1c. sugar
1/2c. water
1/2c. vinegar
1Tbl. flour
1 egg

Mix all ingredients together in a medium sauce pan with whisk until smooth. Heat on medium high until thickened. Let cool.

Step 3)

Add 1c. of Vidalia Onion and Peppercorn dressing to thickened sauce and mix well.

Step 4)

Salt the potatoes, cover with dressing and mix well. (Onions may be added)

Step 5)
ENJOY!!
We were going to take a picture of what it looks like when it is all done, BUT we all started to eat it and forgot about the picture. We just couldn't wait any longer.

Let us know what you think of Janice's Potato Salad.
We also have more recipes at woodorchardmarket.com under The Market tab.

Have a wonderful and safe weekend.
We'll see you at The Market soon.

Door County Stars Stop At The Market

We were so lucky to have Miss Door County, Samantha Cole and Miss Door County Outstanding Teen, Abby Grosbeier stop at the Market between parades on the 4th of July.

They came to the Market and raced around our dirt track. We can't say who won because it was a very close race, but they both had fun and that is all that matters.

If you were up in Door County celebrating the 4th of July, we hope you had lots of fun and found time to stop at the Market too and enjoy an apple cider pop.

Don't forget to take pictures and post them on our Facebook page when you are visiting Wood Orchard Market. You could win a $20 gift certificate.

Have a great week, we'll see you soon!

Behind the Scenes at Wood Orchard Market

Have you ever wondered were we get our great produce ?
Or maybe what the we do at the Market that you don't see?

Well here you go. This is Janice going to DeBaker Acres early in the morning to pick up the deliouse strawberries that we sell.

Once we get our strawberries, we put them out right away for you to buy. We want you to get the freshest fruit possible.

Our Door County's cherries aren't ready yet. They should be ready to enjoy in just a few more weeks (the middle of July)  But until then we have Michigan Sweet Cherries, and they  good. Gracie is washing them and putting them in containers for you to enjoy.

Just remember when you driving home and enjoying the cherries don't spit the pits out past the Door County line. We don't want any cherry trees growing outside of Door County.

Hope to see you at the Market Soon.
